officer, who opened fire. the suspect nor the officer was injured. >> the search for a new police chief continues. kim dacey has the latest to replace commissioner bealefeld. >> fred bealefeld announced he would step down on august 1 and spend more time with his family after five years on the job. an 18% drop in homicide. there is a 10-person advisory panel in the search for a new top cop. this panel will conduct interviews for internal and an external applicants and recommend their finalists for the mayor for consideration. city residents have plenty of
advice on what the mayor's team needs to look for. >> i would look outside of the city, somebody that is not from here, somebody with a different take an experience. >> just to make sure he knows the area he will be working in. >> fred bealefeld will participate in the national search for his own replacement. kim dacey, wbal-tv 11 news. >> there was a bold crime over the weekend. a car pulled up alongside a teenager. the teenager was shot. the 19-year-old was taken to the hospital where he later died. no word as to a suspect or a possible motive. someone else was shot a couple of blocks away two and days earlier.
a baltimore murder case has been solved. kyle williams has been arrested. investigators say williams pulled the trigger in the shooting and faces charges of first-degree murder. >> a woman is arrested after police say she kidnapped a boy. the baby's legal guardian said several people were arguing about who had custody of the boy. she took the boy from his bedroom and left. 5:06. wildfires continue to burn in two states in the west. >> police on a manhunt in alabama. we will have the latest will recover the nation.
